Figure Eight Explosion!

Post by yunachin »

So I had decided I wanted to get a Figure Eight puffer to stick in my 15g since it was empty, so I went ahead and called the store and told my pal to put me in an order for one. Apparently the supplier screwed up big time because when he arrived today he had Figure Eights........8 of them. We told him we wanted one not 8 and he basically said that he would take them but they would end up in a garbage can somewhere. (I was steaming mad about this and we are making a complaint against the driver.) So now...I have 8 Figure Eights here because there was no room at the store for them...literally. We only order what we have room for and assuming I was only getting one there was no big deal.

So now I have them split up all around my house until I can has together a place to put them permanently. The best looking one is in the 15g while the others are scattered abroad. I gave them a hearty dose of vitamins and internal parasite medicine with their food and so far I have only seen one that has not eaten. For all 8 of them to be stuffed in one bag they really do not look torn up at all and they all look fairly good, just very hungry. Most of them are swolen with food now. :D

So wow....I expect one and get 8. I am sure going to have my hands full. We were moving Kaiser into his permanent tank in the next two weeks but now we will be doing it this weekend to make room for the 7 little ones that need a home. Also if anyone is near my area (South Carolina) and would like to adopt one of these babies let me know. I would love to ship them but I really cannot afford to do it. :(
I will post some pictures of them in the next couple of days.

Wow I bet that was a shock! :D What an idiot though that driver, saying they would end up in the bin. How could you take a bag of living things and just sling them in a dustbin! :( At least they are in good hands now. Good luck with them all! :D

Poor babies! I'm glad they ended up in good hands. Wish I were close to you I would take a couple off your hands. Hope you find good homes for them.

These are all full grown Figure Eights. It's not like I don't have room for them, I just did not expect to bring home 8 of them at one time. They are all doing well so far, mingling about and eating. No black bellies, which I am really surprised of, I figured they would be stressed out from the traveling and me moving them all around. I suppose if no one wants to take them, I will have a big family of Figure Eights to take care of, which I am fine with as well. :D

I guess they thought you ordered 8 figures, and not figure 8s.
Wow, you've got quite a family there! And fully grown F8s as well! Good luck with them. It's good to know they are in a good home with proper care now. :D

hmmm... breeding project ? ( I know, you have your own breeding project going on right now....)

but still... might be fun, you could be the first one to successfully breed Fig 8's! If anyone can, you can... :-)

Ha ha.. You know I was talking yesterday to some friends and we were saying because I am taking a break on breeding fish that they would all probably lay eggs for spite. These clownfish have been acting a bit fruity lately but I told them if they lay eggs, they are on their own. :P
As cool as it would be for the F8's to mate...there is no room at the inn!
