Cross FLow (maxi-jet) for 15g tank with F8

Greetings All- I just purchased my F8 from thatpetplace and he is doing very well. I am using a Biowheel 200 so there is more than enough filtration and flow. For cross flow, should I purchase a maxi-jet pump? Or is that overkill?

How complicated is it to install a maxi-jet cross flow pump? More than just a simple air pump and tubing?

what is the reason why you want so much flow in your tank? and an air pump?

I read that F8s like a decent amount of flow (like most puffers). Regarding the air pump, my SAPs love to swim into the bubbles, get thrown around and then do it again. The first time I thought it was an accident but now its something they enjoy. So I figured this would apply to the F8 too. So besides the bubbles and flow from the filter, I thought a cross flow would be nice too. Advice?

i would get a powerhead with adjustable flow, i don't know what gph maxi-jet your getting but if you get one make sure it's not too much for that 15g tank, but as far as getting bubbles for your puffers enjoyment thats cool, i don't personally use anything in my tanks that makes a bunch of bubbles but thats just a peeve of mine

I would get the lowest flow maxi-jet system since the tank is not that large. do I need anything else besides the air pump and tubing for the maxi-jet?

I like the over-filtration/over-oxygenation method and also that the SAP (and hopefully F8) will enjoy it too!! If not I can lower the flow of the pump and even remove the tubing.

you don't need the air pump, just air tubing, theres a little projection on the nozzle of the pump that allows you to put airline tubing on it, you put the tubing on it and expose the other end to air and the pump will suck in air by itself, and if you want to controll the size of the bubbles then you'd put a venturi valve on the tubing

the shipping is ALMOST as much as the product itself. I may wait and visit thatfishplace since it is only 60 miles from my apartment and on the way to my parent's home.

you don't have an LFS nearby? or are they all just crappy?

the only LFS nearby is a petsmart and i was told it does not carry powerheads. granted maybe I should go up each aisle myself and verify.
