Ceylon puffers and GSP brackish salinity.

Well, after my panicky postings of before, life has settled down at my place.

My one GSP died (sniff) and the other one was relocated to his own new tank, away from the Ceylons.

The single 48g brackish tank was not only overcrowded probably from a "bioload" point of view, it was probably also crowded from a behavioural/territorial point of view.

But in my moving and conditioning of the new tank, I think my salinity hydrometer (a crappy floating type) was not accurately reporting salinity at first. Now I suspect it may be. Well, anyways, now it's saying my tanks are both at SG of 1.018. That's getting near full marine, isn't it? I was aiming for 1.01 and seem to have overshot significantly.

One tank is a 20g with a single juvenile 0.75" GSP in it, he's looking healthy and is no longer stressed/gray-bellied as he was starting to get when sharing a tank with the ceylons. The other tank is a 48g with three 1.8" ceylons and they are all happy, as are the bumblebee gobies in the larger tank, although I suspect that I actually have two ceylons and one F8, from the differences in his markings, but all about the same size right now. They have grown a small amount since I have got them, and I think the two ceylons are getting more aggressive towards the F8 at mealtimes, although when there's no food in the tank I don't observe any overt aggressive behaviour.

Anyways, are these guys all okay at 1.018. I realize I'm still overstocked, especially in six months time when these puffers are grown, but for now they seem happy.

F8s are best kept at 1.005. Young Ceylons are good at 1.010-12.
