when should i pull my media out?

when should i pull my media out?
im raising my my brakish tank up for my GSP and right now its at 1.017 (just raised today from 1.015) and i have an aquaclear with a sponge, bio-media, and old carbon. i know you shouldn't have filter media in a saltwater tank but i wasnt sure when i should take it out. when i get the live rock in the tank?
60g with 2 angels, 1 yoyo loach, Upside down catfish, Clown Loach, 1 leopard Ctenopoma, 12 black skirt tetras and a L201 Pleco

Once you have a skimmer running, I'd probably remove the mechanical media. Live rock/sand is also good to add, but you will probably get lower nitrates overall by getting rid of the media about the time a skimmer is introduced. Adding a least a bit of live rock(perhaps get scraps cheap and replace the filter media with them?) is always a good plan tho.
