looking for a small Starry Puffer (Arothron stellatus)

Post by salt_water_aquarist »

Hello:

I have a 500 gallon (700# live rock + 160 gallon sump) FOWLR tank and would like the enjoyment / challenge of raising up a small Arothron stellatus to adulthood. They seem to be hard to find. Does anyone know where I might find one for sale?

Regards.

Where are you located? I've seen them at a LFS around here.

yeah they arent the easiest. what i have gathered is they only live in certain parts of the ocean in certain parts of a reef, thats basically how they live in the wild.making it a little more difficult to find we're looking at japan africa and asia here. so i guess you could say come few and far between, so when you find him, grab him asap.

all the stores down south. try contacting a couple of the stores down in florida , they should have one. other than that you should be looking at special order from another country itself, which ive done and its a pain in the buttocks,

if you would like to keep in touch i can see what i can do about getting it for my store and when and if we get then i can set something up to get hm over there, or an exchage of what you have now. driving is no matter

get back to me on this cause s soon as i fnd one i can get it to you

I could check my supplier and see about ordering one in for you. I can't ship but you are only about an hour and a half away from me and the trip would be a breeze.

I don't recommend getting an a stellatus. They get WAY huge, even for a 500 gallon tank. I mean, I like the idea under the Pufferpedia where is says "minimum tank size: the ocean"
