IM GOING INSANE!!!

After checking out the pix section. I sw a c. lortei and it looks like my other red eye puffer that i think is the female.
Now i wonder if my red tail one is a red tail red eye puffer but i heard from LFS owner says the female red tail red eye puffer doesnt have a red tail only the male. So im totally lost!!!! I also saw the red strip belly on the male lortei but my red tail one have a light black strip across the belly not like the other one without the red tail its have black line pattern all over the belly. ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH..IM GOING CRAZY JUST TRYING TO ID AND SEX THEM!!!

Some pics would help I got a bit lost in your explaination (probably because it's close to 1 am, and I'm a bit unconcentrated ).

The difference between lorteti and irrubesco is only visible with the males. The females are very much alike. So are the males when they are small. My lorteti male looked just like an irrubesco when I got him, except for the lack of the color red in his tail. When he grew, he changed pretty much: his tail became blue and he got his red belly stripe. I would never have expected him to turn out so beautiful!

but is the female irrubesco have red tail or when u say the female lorteti and irrubesco are very much alike. you mean exactly that both females doesnt have red tail.

Neither irrubesco nor lorteti females have a red tail, nor the male lorteti, just the irrubesco male.
