New stocklist

so this is about my 3rd or 4th proposed stocklist.

1 picasso trigger
1 blue spot puffer
1 valentini puffer
2 falce perc clowns
1 yellow tang

this is in a 60G tank. I know that the tang should have a bigger tank when he matures but thats not a problem because i work in the bio department of my university and they have a 300G tank that he can graduate to

I'd take out the tang, it would just be too crowded with him in there, and it's always best to not stock your tank with things you -know- you don't really have room for. The Trigger will also outgrow that tank. They get 9-10" and need about 75gallons.
When you say "blue spot puffer" I assume you mean Canthigaster solandri?
With puffers you can't do much with only 60gallons. The two puffers will take up 50gallons of that tank. Not just as a space issue, but the large amount of waste they produce. The two puffers and two clowns would be fine, maybe a damsel or two. But other than that you really don't want to put much else in there.

Id take out the trigger. I think it would get too big, aggressive and produce too much waste for that size tank.

Two puffers will always be risky together, but a lot of people on this forum have had success with it, myself included. I would try to add them at the same time so neither establishes a territory.

I'm not completely against the Yellow tang, as long as its fairly openly aquascaped so there is lots of swimming room. My yellow tang is my favourite fish, great personalities.

If you take out the trigger you could look at other small cool fish such as blennys or gobies.

I completely agree with Bonnie. Take out the trigger. I once had a set up almost exactly like the one you mention, and the humu killed a cleaner wrasse and my perc clown. Whatever you do, of the mentioned fish, add the clowns first, unless you go with Bonnie and opt for a blenny or gobby.

So long as you have good filtration and good biological filtration, you should be fine until the fish get big. But like you said, you do have somewhere to upgrade your fish to.

These are relatively peacegul triggers and would most likely work the best.

Actually, a humu will be ok in 60g as they only get about 9". A blue jaw needs at least a 100g to be comfortable. But they are more peaceful yet more delicate. They are the only trigger ime to have died.

Ok so ive been reading online and i have seen a few places that say a spiny box puffer only needs a 40-55+ gallon tank. Well is this true, becasue i would love so so much to be able to have one.

I'm pretty sure there is one species that could, but the chances of you finding the right one are slim. I wouldn't keep them in anything less than 75.
Why not do 2 percs, 1 yellow tang, royal gramma, valentini, a small (reef safe) wrasse, and a long nose butterfly?
That'd be a relatively peaceful tank and a whole lot of colors, and the valentini has plenty of personality.

Be sure to quarantine a spiny box puffer before introducing him into your tank as most have very severe internal parasites upon arrival. I had one and the stress of him being so sick made me not want to keep one again for a long while. If it were me I'd go for:
1x Yellow Tang or Scopas Tang
2x Percula Clowns
1x Hawaiian White Spot Toby or Valentini Puffer
1x Twin Spot Goby
1x Fairy Wrasse or 6 Line Wrasse

would this work... im set on the tang and the trigger because they are the ones my wife wants and she is the one that bought the tank for me for a wedding present

I would say that in the beginning, the humu will be a nice little trigger, but will eventually shred through the percs and the goby. Mine killed my perc when it was the same size.

I think the fish that everyone thought wouldnt work is the trigger. So without a trigger the stocklist would be fine. I think the only way that youre going to get people to like your stocklist is if you take out the trigger or have a trigger only tank. I agree with DRRT, the trigger will make a meal out of the goby and clowns, and possibly even terrorise the puffer and tang.

Try a filefish maybe. They are sort of like mini triggers.

A file would probably get harassed. Tangs tend to be agressive and clowns are very territorial.
