Isaac has passed away

Post by premo »

Hi

Last night, in front of my eyes, my wonderful Abei, "Isaac", just died !!

He had eaten, looked wonderful, and then just rolled over and fell to the bottom of the
tank. I quickly got him near the top of the water but he was completely gone. After the
utter devastation had subsided, I checked everything, water parameters, temperature,
all perfect.

I believe he was only around 2 1/2 years old, always been healthy and so much fun, we will
miss him immensely.

The loss of such a great chum has hurt me but I feel I'll always remember the little chap

Oh my goodness! Well, I guess they all have to go at some time, but you don't expect it to happen like that!

Sorry for your loss I know how that feels. My boyfriend and I had just gotten 2 GSP and we loved them and they loved us they were happy and healthy. One morning we feed them at 6 am(thats when my boyfriend gets off work) and I left for school, they were full and settling in to go back to sleep. I came home to find my boyfriend sitting at the tank very upset and I found that both of our puffers had died. We were so sad. I feel your pain. I just hope that you can find another that willl fill your day with happiness. Again sorry for your loss

Hi

Thanks to you all for your supportive words and thoughts, I am starting to come to terms with
the fact that my chum will not be smiling back through the glass, my partner is still in quite a bad
way. I did a full load of tests on the tank last evening and it is absolutely 100% perfect !! We are
keeping it running, have put 2 of our DP's in there to keep on the case with Isaac's snail feasts.

I am going to my favourite LFS at the weekend, I just MUST have a smiley face in my living room,
no plans whatsover as to when we will bring a new buddy home, I just need to spend some time
with the guys and wait for that "look" only puffer fans recognise as the one that says "I'm yours" !!

Just hope the "look" doesn't come from a Mbu of Fahaka otherwise I'll have to rearrange my house.

Thanks again for your support, it means a lot.

Too late for the autopsy, I placed Isaac inside his upturned coconut shell, put that in a big
wood cigar box and we have interred him in the middle of our big flower bed !

Poor puffer and Chris. I feel sorry for your loss. I remember when my two GSPs passed away (due to my own lack of knowledge), and it wasn't a happy day, and I only had them for 2 days, so I can imagine what it's like.

I think some of the scholars on here need to develop the puffer Heimlich for the instances when they appear to choke on food (which is what it sounds like to me).

I'm very interested in getting a Fahaka myself, if only because having a very large puffer in a very large tank would be quick interesting.

One day you will get to see him again :D

Until then, all we can really do is remember how much joy they brought us when they were with us. I am sure little Isaac was most grateful to have spent his time with you. So if you decide to get another puffy to fill the empty spot in your heart now, just remember, little Isaac is still with you. He will always be with you.. forever. It seems kinda silly that a person can get so emotionally wrecked over a tiny fishy... but that just goes to show your love for this planet's creatures and their beauty. I'm sorry to hear he went so suddenly and for apparently no reason. There isn't really anything you can do when that sort of thing happens. All you can really do is love him and remember him. So, cheer up buddy :D and think of times well spent with little Isaac. I am sure he is thinking of you as you read this.
