Hi all,
I'm trying to make my 2 new abei's as comfortable as possible and was wondering if anyone knows if they prefer hard or softer water? I run pressurized CO2 to their 55g planted tank and the ph is about 6.9 Our tap water is quite soft with a GH of 4 and a KH of 2. There also is a fairly good flow going through the tank.
Btw, so far there doesn't seem to be any aggression between them, I guess this could be because they are not full grown? Or maybe I lucked out and got a pair?

HI
Your parameters look OK to me, keep on eye on them, I am sure you will have to seperate them.
I have been keeping mine in a 55 gallon, on his own and he has done fine, I have a friend who
agreed to look after a juvenile abei for a week with his own adult whilst someone was on holiday,
within 24 hours the older abei had virtually no fins, the litte bugger had shredded him !!
Be warned

No need to worry, premo. I've got one of Irene's puffers now, and he's doing quite well in his 28 gallon bowfront. I'd like to give him a bigger tank, as he's such a happy puffer, but I don't have to room or the money to spot an extra one of them. I think she might have gotten rid of her other one, as well, but I'm not sure.

Hi Agnate
Glad you are able to look after Cap'n Abe !!
I have 5 dp's, a GSP and 3 SAP's, however, my Abei (his name is Isaac) is by miles
my absolute favourite, he is so interactive, it is like having an underwater puppy !!
They are allegedly reclusive and most active at night, nobody has told Isaac this, he
is on the go almost permanently. (His pic is my avatar)
Good luck with your chap
