Confirmation of puffer species!

Say hello to the new member of my puffer family! I was looking through the puffer pedia and it was really hard to find the species of this puffer type because the puffer I have now is still a juvenille. When I bought him from my friends aquarium store he had them labeled as target puffers. I say that he looks more like a Monotrete Cambodgiensis species. Can someone please confirm this? If you need more pics I will be more then happy to take them. thanks.

from the descriptions I've read it looks a lot like the Carinotetraodon borneensis. It would be pretty incredible if that's what you have! here's the page I was looking at:

that could be it! I know there is another place where i live where they sell red eye puffers. But everytime I call they are always sold out.

That'd be really exciting if you have the Borneensis, since they are soooo rare! take some more pics as soon as you can. Can't wait to hear PP, Chin, Woland, Rocker, Hilly or anybody else have to say about it. hint hint!

from all my reading, the biggest differences in the Carinotetraodons is the tail and belly coloring, so try to get clear shots of those.

the tail and top fins are a little bit damaged. Im guessing when the producer was shipping them they were in a small container. they were probably nipping at each other. Ill take somemore pictures right now. I tried to feed him a snail and mussell right now but it doesnt look like he's hungry. He is swimming around now but when I first got him into the tank he was just sitting on the bottom with his tail curled. most likely he was stressed.

well the modeling in top looks like the female Carinotetraodon irrubesco, but the fins and spot don't quite match up. and seeing as how there aren't very many pics of the Carinotetraodon borneensis, it's hard to say. maybe one of the more knowledgeable puffer keeps can tell...

It looks like a T. cochinchinensis to me. Nice looking fellow.

Definately one of the target species, not Carinotetraodon at all. He is still dark from stress & not showing his spots well yet. I'd get that redtail shark out of there, before he's dinner.

I just did. they were a pain in the buttocks to take out though. I didnt know they were so fast. anyone know how big this puffer is going to get? just because I want to know what size tank I should put him in. Right now he's in a 30 gal with a clown pleco.
