Meet "Sluggo" and a question...

Post by Snausy »

Hello everyone, I just wanted you to meet Sluggo. He's my little dogface.

I also had a question. On liveaquaria they have a "yellow-throat dogface puffer" Here he is:

http://www.liveaquaria.com/diversden/It ... 0540&add=1

Is Sluggo is a yellow throat too or is that a special variant?
I ask because they have the same scientific name "Arothron nigropunctatus" and Sluggo looks pretty yellow in the face with a light grey body but it's not as bright yellow (although he's not as old) as the one at Liveaquaria either. Is it possible that he will change color ? When I bought him this is what they SAID he would look like. This is the exact page I ordered from:

http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod ... pCatId=222

Obviously he doesn't look like that. On the webpage they say:

"It changes appearance during different stages of life. While in the gray phase, it is gray with black markings around the mouth, eyes, and dorsal fin. The pectoral fins have a yellow appearance. The half-yellow phase is denoted by a yellow underbelly and dark gray overcoat, while the face looks similar to the gray phase. It may also have black spots over the body, which may be gray or yellow. It very rarely changes phases while living in an aquarium."

Does that mean Sluggo will always look like he does? I ask because his tail used to be dark but it's bleaching out really white now.

Has your dogface gone through color changes? Is the one at diver's den a different color morph than my dogface?

Thanks for any info.
