Yup, it finally happened!
After owning puffers for about a year, it finally happened: I got bitten! And I've always said that if I would get bitten, Hufflepuff would be the guitly one. And, yes, he was!
I was about to take out som plants of his tank, and suddenly something took grip on my nail. Wow, what a bite! He took out a part of my nail, on the upside of it (there's a little ditch there now
)! It didn't hurt, luckily, but would definitely have if he had hit flesh. Wow, what a bite he has! I guess he would have ended up at the floor, if he had gotten a proper grip on me
I just love that puffer! All though I will have to be careful every time I stick my fingers into the tank

Haha congratulations?
I never got bit but one time I fed my old porc and he bit the cup that I had the food in (the edge of it where you would drink from) The cup nearly broke in half, I still have it there is a bite mark and a crease along the whole side. I jumped and if he didn;t let go he would have been splat against the window.

My figure 8's bite me all the time, as most of what I feed them they take right out of my fingers. It's mildly painful, like a little pinch. They associate my fingers with food now, so if I just stick a finger in there without food they will nip it; I call them puffer kisses.
I can definitely imagine getting bit by something like a porc or a fahaka would not be so amusing.

Re: Yup, it finally happened!
Hufflepuff is a fully grown cochinchinensis or turgidus, and the second largest puffer i have (only my suvatti is bigger). Not even close to Fahaka size, but he really can bite (I found out)! He would have drawn blood from me, had he not missed, and gotten my nail instead.
I think I must have teased him too much with the food lately
I don't know why, but I'm a bit proud of what he just did. Maybe because it shows that he also is the least skittish of them all? He's tried to bite me through the glass several times, maybe he just wanted to get revenge from all those not-so-successful tries?

Re: Yup, it finally happened!
I was bit by Milton my GSP while I was changing things around in his tank. He is still small so it didn't hurt at all but I screamed really loud! It was very surprising. He always goes after my finger if I put it in, but not if I put my entire arm in. I guess that day he must have been hungry because he attacked my arm! My boyfriend got the most amusement out of it because he was watching me as I screamed and then yelled ,"MILTON BIT ME!" Milton thought it was great too, looking up at me smiling! pfft! hahaha
Needless to say I'm very cautious now when messing around in his tank. I don't know what I'll do when he's full grown!

Re: Yup, it finally happened!
I got bit by my Bronze Puffer. I was putting bloodworms under a statue in my tank so my eel could eat, and I turned around to watch the tv for a second. CHOMP!!!! He took a huge chunk out of my left middle finger. I rinsed it out in cold water for about a minute (my finger, not the puffer : ) ), and it was better. It bled for about 5 minutes after the bite, and now I know to be more careful with him. I had a small chunk of flesh missing from my finger for about a month after.

I think you all need to buy the "Dont feed fingers to puffer fish" magnet/sticker/sign as a reminder lol..you know you want it haha
