Question about GSPs.. Moving from Fresh to Salt.

The puffer I have is about 2" and is kept in fresh water. According to the site they should be in brackish to salt..

I would loved to put it in the tank with my Clown Fish (salt tank.) How should I go about doing this? Add salt to his tank and build it up over a week or two? Or would it be ok just to put him in the salt tank?

I had two puffers but one recently died, pet shop told me because lack of salt water (I've had them for about 3 weeks.)

Sooo, it seems maybe GSP are a little too much to put in a tank w/ a Clown Fish.

What other puffers are there that I could put in a tank w/ him? I love how Dogfaced puffers look but I think they might be a bit too much also, not very sure.

My GSP gets along fine with my Tomato Clownfish, sometimes they even swim together. And you can acclimate your GSP within 1-2hrs to SW if you want to put him in the SW tank.

I would VERY MUCH love that. I would love to have them in a tank together.. If you have any tips or advice I would love it.

I can't see acclimating a fish from full FW to full SW in 1-2 hours.

Normally, no, but a fish like a GSP in the wild can happily swim from one to the other in a couple hours, not to mention handle large shifts in SG due to tides etc changing the SG around them when they stay in the same place.

that is a good point nick but they also have the option to swim out if its too much for them to deal with. Wouldn't it be better to acclimate in stages to see how the puffer gets on at different SG? I'm only guessing as I have never had to do this though!!!

PapaJT it depends on the size of the tank you want the puffer to go in, fully grown they are pretty big puffers
