new puffer
just got my new puffer. not exactly what i was looking for, but when i saw him i just couldn't resist. I'm sure he's a lineatus, he has the stripes down his body. the man in the fish shop assured me he wouldn't grow to more than 8 inches!!! of course i know from your site that they can get double that size. I've put him in the 3 ft tank i had ready. he is only around 3inches at the moment so i have a little time to convince my husband that i need his 5 by 2 tank more than he does. ok so my first question is i know you should feed them every day when they are small, but how much should i feed him every day. does he need all of his food to be in shells or are regular frozen mussels and prawns ok, with shells on once or twice a week? i've called him Mac! because i know he's gonna be big!!

Re: new puffer
Just feed him to he gets a round belly, after a few feedings you should get to know exactly how much per feeding. Not everything needs to be in shells so the more varied the better , shelled non shelled etc.. Check out the puffer foods articles in the library.

Was the tank you put him in now, cycled? He's gonna grow realy fast! Pics would help with an ID for sure.
