Tank Mates
Tank Mates
I just got my green spotted puffer. He is living in a 3 gallon tank. I was wondering if he is lonely by himself or if he would benefit from another fish? I've read that they're aggressive, but I just wanted to make sure.

Your puffer is a tank that is way too small. 10g minimum for a 1" juvie & 30g minimum for a 6" adult.
How was that tank cycled? Please either buy it a larger tank ASAP (like today) & cycle it with Bio-Spira (do not let the shop selll you anything else!) or return the puffer, until you can house it properly.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Re: Tank Mates
He isn't lonely, but he's probably upset that he's being raised in the equivalent of a phone booth for a human baby.
He needs a (cycled) tank 10x that size, or he will suffer drastically.
Please read the GSP article in The Puffer Library (in the "Learn" tab at the top of the forum).
