Yes buried right in. I have black sand and some tan sand in the tank but sprinkled around it is some little red rock substrate so basically when she is buried The other fish cant see her. But im still puzzled on how to get her to eat frozen foods. I dont wanna feed her too many fish because of the parisite issue...you know the deal. But im so happy I purchased this fish. More than a fish she is now a part of the family. My wife is jealous though because I love making water changes and keeping Aurora (congo puffer) happy.

HAHA, totally agree! those who's not on the same boat won't really understand.

You gotta try wingling the frozen food (e.g) frozen shrimp with a pair of chopstick (HAHa its pretty hard to use those) or your fingers. Alternatively, if you're using frozen blood worms, some water movement from the outlet of your filter would mimic the movements.I think you have to do this for the congo to get use to accepting dead food, sooon enough, they would react once the food is dropped into their sight. I did that for my puffers for only twice, and now one of them even came out of the sand, right to the top, trying to suck those food out from my fingers, so I guess the wingling of food process sometime would take too long.

Yes, but isn't it easier to turn off the filter(s) during feeding? I mean, sure, the food doesn't look alive, but you don't want any bloodworms or anything getting sucked up by the filter(s), right?

Hmm, I didn't try the filter thing before, but I guess you place the blood worm at the opp end of the water filter inlet.

Haha, it's funny when you says filter(s). Is it me, or does anyone else, or you uses two/more filters in their/your tanks? I used one multi-stage internal filter and an air-driven filter. just being paranoid.

Here's all of my filters:
20G: 1 filter (10-30 Gallons)
10G: 1 filter (10-30 Gallons)
10G: 1 filter (10-20 Gallons) No fish yet. Just set up today. Cycle for a week. Need accessories.
100G: 2 filters (30-60 Gallons each, w/ 300 Gallons/hour filtration each. That's a full tank filtration cycle every 10 Minutes.
55G: Empty!

That's 5 filters for me.

I have two filters on my 55g tank. Ill throw some bloodoworms in there and see how it goes. Does your congo eat clams out of the shell?

I don't have a congo. You must be talking to PufferPunk? And does two smaller filters work more efficiently than one big filter?

I dont know abou that but i do know its good to have filtration on both ends of your tank.

I think you could open up the clam, and throw in the clam with shell on it. this way you could get your congo used to those clams. Then the full shell clam right into tank, and your puffer would work their way in. It really depends on the size of congo too, if it's still small in size, I think they would find it hard to accept full clam.

two filter concept is better IMO. as if one fails, there would be back-up.as apply for heater. The efficiency of the water filtration is not greatly compromised using 2 smaller filters, but water movement-wise, i think it would improved having 2 of them. more aeration too.

My congo is still small. her mouth fully opened is probably the sized of a milk dud. And im not too sure that the congo puffer eats hard shelled crustaceans. I dont think they have the normal beak like other puffers.

dont worry, both of my congo's only 3 cm short. =) i fed them soft shelled crustaceans (shrimp). they would go for the snails, i think its because snails are too slow and unattractive for them. oh well. what ya feedin' them now?

Mine won't touch snails. Try tying a shrimp tail on the end of a thread & bouncing it in front of his face. You have to be patient--it may take a few days.

A little off topic: does anybody keep a generator for their fish in case of a power failure? Sounds like a good idea, especially for smaller tanks.

I'm feeding her live fish which i know im not supposed to. That is all she seems to be eating. Maybe starve her for a few days she will probably eat anything right? And no i dont keep a generator. It would be a pain in the but but if you wanted you could take the water out of your tank and run it through your filter for ever and ever till the power turned back on.

No, I'm worried about the temp. I was so used to having a 100G tank, when I set up the 10G, I was surpried by all the temperature changes.
