Yep I know I will have to get bio spira from the states, I just ordered it. It should come next week. Hope the salt water stuff is what I need because that is what I ordered heh.

Why should I be doing huge PWC once or twice a day? Isn't "new tank syndrome" a cause of excessive ammonia? My ammonia has been between 0ppm and 1ppm the whole 12 days and nitrate and nitrite both at 0.
With the small amount of ammonia these lil guys produce and if I keep ammonia at or below 1ppm it should be ok until my bio spira arrives shouldn't it?
puffers are scale less fish and are more sensitive to amm and nitrI...I would just put them back in the quarantine until the cycling tank stabilizes...
PWC will help get rid of the ammonia...if that was 12 days worth...do it enough so that there is no ammonia in the water...

p.s. salt water bio spira is for the high end brac water ...i think u needed the fw bio spira since it is very low brac...
Yeah, FW Bio Spira works up to SG 1.012.
I see a lot of changes in the near future for you...water changes, that is.

One of my puffers doesn't look so good today, I am going to move them right now. His belly has darker spots on the sides, what does that mean? The other one looks fine, his belly is white as usual.
Did a water test, ammonia still below 1, hope its not some sort of parasites
Hmm, Sammy looks and is acting like normal again. No idea what was up there, is it normal for puffer's bellys to turn darker sometimes?
Oh yeah, I got em to eat snails for the first time today, woot! They wouldn't touch em until the snails were squished though. May now that the puffs know snails are food they will eat em unsquished next time.
My two change colour frequently. Robert favours the fading out when asleep or annoyed option, while Mags likes to darken her belly when annoyed or feeding. She doesn't change when resting.
You'll get to know their signals.

That's great that they both ate snails. I do hope now that they know they're food they'll just crunch through them for you...much better for the teeth.
Keep up the water changes, and you'll ge in good shape.
The other thing is, if they're eating, they don't feel too bad. If they're going to the effort of crunching snails to eat, then they definately don't feel too bad.
If I put anything challenging in for my two, they'll have a go, and then they back off and start looking at me, as if asking for waiter service.

Thank you for the advice guys. I am still getting used to these lil guys, the color changing thing was freaking me out.
Sammy is very greedy when it comes to feeding time. I have to distract him on one side of the tank so I can get some food to Zizi but he usually ends up stealing it anyway. So I have one overfed greedy puffer and one underfed smaller puffer, sheesh.
The gobys started burying themselves in the sand, its funny you only see their lil eyes heh. The puffers don't bother them at all but you can tell thet the gobys are intimidated by them and olny get scraps. Good thing the gobys like flakes and the puffers dont or they wouldnt get much food.
I picked up two 7.5 gallon jugs today to make PWC easy. I will always keep em full with a proper salt mix.
Is it possible to keep a big snail or two in with puffers? I added a big yellow snail and he seems to be loving sucking up all the algae in my tank. The F8s are quite curious and watch the snail closely but they are too small to actually hurt it (I think). The snail is about an inch and a half in diameter, like twice the size of the puffers.
I know snails do not do well in brackish water, but my water is only at about 1.003 right now. Anyone else try this?
my 3 fig 8's destroy anything i put in the tank big snails little snails it dont matter the will attack and kill the big snails with no trepidation. its the thing i like most about them they are cute and cuddly but they are pirahnas in disguise. people cant believe how violent they are when i show them at feeding time lol
