Re: The new tool on the block.
I had one! Shaped like a starfish. But I think I threw it away. Aw, those are cheap, I might be able to pay for one in quaters.

Re: The new tool on the block.
Well, I need...
Sand (hoping for blasting sand) $10
A couple fake plants $10
Live plants $15
Cherry shrimp $15
Test kit $20
Congo $30, I'm thinking
IP meds, again, $5
I've already got $30, the top priority is the test kit and sand. Then the congo, then IP meds, then live plants, then shrimp.

The Congo should be the last thing on the list.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

I 100% agree. Get the tank set with all the plants, and have all your supplies before you buy a congo. Don't expect the cherry shrimp to last in a Congo tank......Lil' Swimz$ wrote:Well, I need...

Re: The new tool on the block.
That's the point. I'm going to try to breed them, and give them to him as a treat. So test kit, sand, plants, live plants, (for a different tank?) cherry shirmp, (for a different tank?) then congo?

Or just save up and get it all at once, cycle the tank, and get the Congo.

Re: The new tool on the block.
I agree with LilGreen. When I ordered the fahaka, the fake plants hadn't come in yet that I was using as his tank decor. I was sure it would be here before the fahaka got here and the plant shipment was delayed. It arrived like a day before he did, but I was really stressed because I thought he was going to have to go into a bare tank. Trust me get everything ready before the puffer comes, it'll save you from racing around like crazy doing last minute things and you'll be less stressed.
Also turkey baster is a good idea, I may have to give that a try.
Other things that shall not be named that have to do with it... *shudders*

I'm learning that puffer fish are like pringles. There is no such thing as only wanting one.
Tanks:
38 gallon: 1 Figure 8 puffer, 1 Dragon Goby, 1 Knight Goby, 3 Black Mollies
30 gallon: 1 Blue Acara, 1 Bristlenose Pleco
120 gallon: Ratchet the Fahaka Puffer

Re: The new tool on the block.
The congo won't be in until at least next weekend. I'm going to get the sand, test kit, and fake plants tomorrow. Then next week when I pick him up. I probably won't have enought for the cherry shrimp and live plants another time. They're really not going to do anything with the congo, besides feeding extra shrimp to him. Cool.

Re: The new tool on the block.
If you get that Congo in a week, is your tank going to be cycled and 100% ready to go?

Re: The new tool on the block.
Its already cycled. I've had this tank for two months now!! Currently has 3 harlequins (which I intend to be one of his first live meals) and two cories which I'm giving to a friend on Sunday.
