how prone are they to disease? i had an out break of brooklynella (i believe) that wiped my tank (except the snowflake) and i am waiting for a while for it to burn out (may fire up a UV for a while to assist)
do puffers suffer from ich or are they pretty hardy souls?

They are actually more susceptible to crypt (not ich in SW fish), since they are scaleless fish. Try to purchase from a shop that will QT for a month or QT yourself.

kk, my LFS is good so that wont be a problem.
we call it marine ich on my side of the pond, people say crypt to me i think 'but i am talking about my marines not my planted'
Cryptocaryon irritans is its name though i guess

Calling marine ich is totally incorrect on either side of the pond. 2 totally different parasites.
Is the same LFS you got the brook from?

TBH i am not 100% sure it was brook but it was suspicious that i lost nearly all my fish in 3 days with perfect water conditions to a condition that looked very much like brook....
and yes i get all my fish/coral/inverts from the same guy, know him very well and occasionally help him out. all his other fish have shown no signs of disease and he treats his FO systems often.
i think it may have something to do with lawrences tendency to be a bit grumpy but its just the symptoms had be puzzled.
after all the years of fish keeping its funny how sometimes things still suprise you. i may buy an internal UV just to be on the safe side, i wont be stocking the tank with any demanding coral so no worries about wiping out the planktonic traces.
thank god my NPS dont get sick!
