Males change coloration after setting up a nesting site, or so I've heard. Mine laid eggs once, but only a couple hatched and no fry survived.

Sorry to hear that they didn't make it that would have been really cool. I bet they were so small because mine is so small I couldn't imagine what a baby would look like, good luck in having some babies again (if you want them)

The eggs were large for the fish, but the fry were small enough to sit on a pin head.

Well that is cool I have never seen fish eggs since the only fish I had that was pregnant was a guppy and she had so many babies and almost all of them lived and they were so small. Would you need to remove the eggs or babies so they don;t get eaten?

We removed the entire morimono moss ball they were on so we could observe closely, at the time we were trying to discern if they were figure 8 eggs or bbg eggs, we figured if they hatched, they had to be gobies, since only one adult F8 was in the tank. A couple did, and we knew.

Yeah, my Knight Goby is pretty big, and he likes hiding in his caves. He usually comes out whenever he sees food flying around the tank (the powerheads shoot it around they have something to chase

), but I don't think I have enough plants and such to make him feel safe enough to come out.
I need to get rid of him soon, though, as my puffers ended up being Ceylons and they need to go to full marine eventually, whereas the Knight Goby doesn't.

Aww that sucks that you have to get rid of him. I went to work today and I don't know what its called but its a goby thats completly f/w. They looked just like a s/w goby but they were for f/w it was neat to see them swimming around with all the other fish. I havn't seen my boyfriends knight goby but he says that he fights with the scat all the time over food!
