I used the gum, Nicorette cinnamon burst or something like that and only needed it for 5 days. I was a pack a day smoker. When I decided to quit I started weening myself off by opening a new pack every morning and taking five out and throwing them away. That was it for the day. When I could do that easily for a day or so then I would take out 10 and throw them away. Once I got down to the 5 a day I thought I couldn't live without (waking, after each meal & before bed) I switched to the gum. The whole process was less than two weeks and I was smoke free.

I was too young to really remember but both of my grandparents stopped smoking when I was young. I remember asking my grandma to stop and she did.

yeah never really pictured myself as a smoker. bad athsma growing up. my grandmom stopped because of a low level of cancer that she fought off. aunt stopped because of my grandmom. i always tried to get my mom to stop growing up she has never stopped yet though. but people make mistakes and that is one of mine that i regret fully. should have stuck to my guns with not even ever trying them... i didnt start smoking til i was 18, so its been about 7 years(wow doesnt seem that long)

The drug Chantix works well. There are some side effects to it, like any drug, but, the temporary side effects are a minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things (you need to be monitored for behavioral changes and thought so harm to self). I quit 5 years ago using it. You start with a set amount and continue to smoke, no set date to quit. Usually after a week or so of use you start to lose the urge to smoke and most people then decide to quit. The key, as in any substance abuse (smoking really is substance abuse but legal) is you have to want to quit, not half heartedly, but, really desire to not smoke anymore....

A buddy of mine is used chantix to quit. He told me there were nights that he would wake up and look at his wife and just want to go nuts on her(not the good way), it was one of the side effects from the meds. Crazy stuff

I gave my cat a bath today, what fun that was, and felt really bad cause I had no idea he had a bad flea problem. Im going to start giving him weekly baths even though he is inside only

I didn't notice much of any side effects from the chantix, other than it taking away the pleasure of smoking. I loved smoking. The taste, the feel of the smoke scorching my mouth and lungs, the relaxing and stimulating tingle that hits my brain in under 10 seconds from each drag...

Chantix worked because it took all that away. They started tasting grimy, the smoke felt caustic, not comforting, and I felt no buzz whatsoever, even with strong, strong brands. My mouth tasted foul and tainted with chemicals. Beer also stopped tasting good, and certain foods were weird, in some indescribable way, but nothing worth noting like unprovoked anger or hostile feelings. I'm a pretty chill guy tho.

i actually have a prescription of chantix sitting on hold at the pharmacy for my roommate(my doctors MA) to give them the ok to fill it. this is kind of a pre chantix thing so we can try to get it covered by insurance, which most likely wont happen. but at least we can try with saying i tried the electronic cigarette, gum, patches etc. i really didnt try the gum or patches and really dont have the desire to. the chantix was most appealing to me but the side effects turn me away from it. especially since when i was younger(like 14ish) i didnt have a good relationship with my mom or step dad at all at home, constantly fighting, constantly grounded, seemed like all my moms stress was taken out on me for small reasons like not taking out the trash yet or other little chores i had around that i would do but some nights i would wind up doing them a little later in the night. i got depressed and needless to say well i really really didnt want to be there anymore or anywhere for that matter. and im really glad i didnt do anything stupid back then but i was close. so just that history of a couple years not being happy with anything in my life scares me a little when i see that side effects can include depression and suicidal thoughts. im not saying that ive been depressed lately or that ive been thinking like i used to but ive had a lot of stuff on my mind recently so i wouldnt want that chantix to be the final straw with being stressed out and possibly not have total control of things. my half brother killed himself the day before i turned 21 so that isnt even an option for me. i refuse to let myself do that

Firstly, I don't think you should get chantix from the pharmacy - the same drug is available for import online, for about 1/10 the price. My fianace used it at the same time as I did, and she has a history of depression, but chantix didn't seem to aggravate it. Shortly later, once the chantix left her system and she could get high on nicotine again, she went back to smoking, but I've stayed mostly completely cigarette free.

You should probably know, your insurance company is unlikely to cover it, they do NOT want you to quit smoking. Smokers pay a higher rate, making them more profitable to the company, while at the same time they die more quickly and with less expensive end-of-life care than nonsmokers

hmmm... i might have to look into getting it online then if i go that route. i am aware they are very unlikely to cover it even with trying other solutions first. but i also get free health insurace through work since the overall company is health insurance/ppo related and IT(where im at right now) is just the technical sub-company that sells thin client terminals and a department in IT handles all support issues for the healthcare part.

I would never order drugs from online. You dont know what you are truly getting and that can be very dangerous. It might cost more but atleast you know what your getting.

isnt there an FDA stamp or something of the sort like a COA on the packaging so you know its legit?

if its imported like Nick said, that makes me believe that it is coming from another country. If thats the case then the FDA wont have anything to do with it.

If you get it from a online pharmacy and it is from the US, you are a lot safer.
