Ghost Shrimp

Post by hobopuppy »

Hello again,

I bought seven little ghost shrimp and put them in my tank with three puffers about two weeks ago. I read that they will eat ghost shrimp. So why do I still have seven ghost shrimp crawling around? The puffers don't seem at all interested in them. A glance now and then but that's about it.

Some do, some don't. You should quarantine anything live put into the tank with other livestock for a minimum of 2 weeks, 4 is better.

Why do I have to quarantine them? They came from the same place, just a couple tanks down from the puffers.

Everything living should be quarantined before being put into a tank with any other living thing. They can carry paracites like ick, bacteria, etc. that can be passed to everything else.
