Beach Sand in Brackish Tanks?

Beach Sand in Brackish Tanks?

I was just wondering can cleaned beach sand be used in brackish tanks?
Any ideas?

How would you clean it? I can't see why not if in theory you could totally sterilise it but I'm not sure if just boiling alone will be any good. Maybe someone else has an idea on this?

For the price of sand its not worth risking, no telling what you could get in it, no matter how well its been cleaned.
