new gsp snail eating problems

I have recently purchased a small gsp from my lfs.
He happily eats bloodworms but doesnt pay attention to the snails i want to feed him. I decided not to feed anymore bloodworms so he would be forced to eat the snails, yet still this hasnt worked.
The snails are approx to the size of the puffers eye, so i see no problem.

Lastly the snails being fed are ramshorn. Anyone got any tips or suggestions, it would be appreciated.

Have you tried crushing the shells and then dropping them in.
If not try other foods like Mussels and Cockles, Shrimps etc...

i have tried crushing the shells to help the puffer out, as he still small....but again, no luck. The water requirements are perfect for the gsp, theres only one puffer in the 180 litre tank due to i don't like to see fighting between fishes. Im really puzzled, i could take the easy option and take the puffer to the lfs shop but that wont benefit the fish or myself. The muscles and cockles are too large for him at the momment, in time i hope see him feed on them.

Anymore suggestions, i want to learn from this.

Chop up frozen Mussels, one would get you many feedings. As for a cockel, open it up and let him pick at it when he's had his fill just remove it, there will be waste on that until he grows. You could do the same with prawns as well.

You could try to empty a snail shell and fill it with bloodworms. Just to teach him that food comes in a shelled form as well as soft, mushie and red.
