Tetraodon cochinchinensis

Post by mikeosoft »

I have an opportunity to get a T. cochinchinensis, also known as the Fang's Puffer. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience keeping this species in planted aquariums. I would like to set up a 29gal planted tank for it and I'm wondering if the plants would do ok. It would obviously eat any snails, shrimp etc that I put in for maintenance, but are they known to tear the plants apart like some of the other puffers?

I have had a couple in the past and they have never bothered with the plants.

Was it personable or did it just hide all day?

The one I have that I am pretty sure is a fangs likes to hide until feeding time, although he pops in and out all day to see if I am coming for food :D . Haven't seen him cruising around the tank yet.

They might chew at the plants with snails on them.
