Can I feed my Fahaka Crab Sticks?

Post by Neilsie »

I have recently bought some crab sticks from my local Sainsburys and I am pondering on the thought whether or not I can give my Fahaka one to eat. Any suggestions would this be ok?

If "crab sticks" are anything like "fish sticks", I wouldn't do it. If you are talking about crab legs straight from the meat department, shell on, then maybe.

What are the ingredients? Are they precooked?

LOL, my fahaka sometimes gets his teeth stuck in them & swims all over the tank with it in his mouth, until I can grab it.

Have a look at the ingredients, are there any additives, preservatives added ,if so then they're not suitable. If they are 100% fresh then it could be worth a try, up to you really. I dont think I would feed em to my fish but thats not to say its not a possibility.

Are you referring to crabs sticks as in the artificial crab meat in stick form? Because those are made from cooked fish.

The crab sticks that we get in England are not crab but all the really walrus bits of fish protien, they add a pink colouring to make us buy it. In the past the stickes used to be white and they didn't sell. Rebranded with some pink colouring and people scoff them by the bucket load.

Personally I wouldn't feed them often as I would doubt the nutitional value to be very high, as an occassional treat though I think it would be fine if you are ok with feeding processed coloured food to your fish
