Perhaps the eyespot is tiny and colouration on rear spots is masking it in the photos. Everything else about it says Abei to me.

Bought as a leiurus, maybe a turgidus (Tiger), 1x c. irrubesco (Tott(a) aka Houdini) 1x c. salivator (Jack the Ripper), 1x m. cochinchinensis (Hufflepuff - R.I.P.), 2x c. lorteti (Tommy and Tigern = Calvin and Hubbes), 1x m. suvatti (Koseklumpen), 1x m. palembangensis (Dragonfly), 2x t. biocellatus (Koken and Fiken).

Many of the pics in the PufferPedia doesn't have a clear eye spot either.

I still think Turgidis especially the picture on p.66 at the bottom

hi troender,
there is a lot of scientific information about the species that are here called "target-puffers". if you began to search you would not find an end...
if you like to research by yourself (most people never do it caus you would have to go to your states library or something like that): the first decsription of the abei has been made by tyson r. roberts. maurice kottelat has made descriptions of all this species. for a bibliography take a look here: www.thepufferforum.com/index.php?id=literatur
i am pretty sure that this one is an abei. it has an untipical color, that one of mine does also have and is relatively seldom. you will see the typical abei-color sooner or later: then it changes from dark spots on light background (now to see on the pictures) to nearly white spots on dark background. check this pictures to see some of the possible colours of m. abei: www.thepufferforum.com/index.php/Mo ... ureView]=0

If you look at the turgidus in Dr. Ebert's book, they have a light red tail too.
