pls help Id this puffer
According to the LFS...says is a freshwater puffer from India....
When I got it few mths back....they said it was a Takifugu

Thats what I thought too....but mine do not seeom to burrow into the sand like my Fugu occeleus and their skin is matt unlike the occeleus which is rather matellic and shiny....

This is a tough one, the 2nd pic made me think it was a target puffer of some sort but from those shots its too difficult to tell.

I think that it's a Takifugu niphobles that is maybe stressed or something.

I'm pretty sure its not a T. Niphobles, the head and nose looks wrong. Unfortunately I cannot offer an opinion of what it actuall is though. Are these markings displayed all the time?

If markings, you mean the dots...yes....they are yellowish golden. Probably the top few pics show the color but made wavy due to the waves.

Agreed more pics are required. I did start thinking it could be a tetraodon Cutcutia like Kass' specimen but I cant tell from those shots.
