advice

Post by Samr »

I am looking into a brackish tank I want to get either a couple of GSP'S or a zebra puffer. what else will work with these fish, I want the puffer(s) to be the highlight of the tank but some ditherfish or a pleco also .

Are you referring to Colomesus psittacus when you say Zebra puffer? Please look through the Pufferpedia under the learn menu and identify which puffer you are referring to.

I don't think you will find any pleco common in the trade that will tolerate brackish, especially the mid-high brackish specific gravity that GSP require. Some people have had success keeping tankmates with GSP, but they are a very aggressive fish, personally I would keep them alone. If you were planning full marine for the GSP you would have some better choices for tankmates.

Possibly ocetallus (I know I'm not spelling that correctly).

But yes, I agree with jake, read up on brackish water and the needs of the fish before you buy anything. You can't keep freshwater fish in brackish and expect them to be healthy.
