I'm a new puffer fish owner and new to the forum (so HI :D).

I just bought myself two beautiful Takifugu ocellatus. Every piece of information that I've gotten to care from them is from a local aquarium owner, who seems to be very knowledgeable. However, I'm getting sad reading a lot of the posts, saying that these guys don't do well in captivity. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can prolong their lives in my tank? I have them in brackish water (it's 55 gallons and I put a 55 tspns of salt). They don't have any tank mates. Are these the right conditions? and what's a good diet for these guys? Thanks, any help would be appreciated!!

How was the tank cycled? You need to use marine salt & measure it with a hydrometer, not raising the specific gravity more than .002/week. Some folks have stated better sucess with these fish at cooler temps.

I am by no means an expert on fugu's but my loves sand/rock substrate, he like to bury himself in it.
