Read this before posting!!

Since this board has been up, we have found there are several questions that routinely get asked in order to help diagnose problems. If you can have that information to begin with in your post, we'll be able to help right away (if we can!) without having to wait for you to post the info we need.

1) Your water parameters - pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrates and salinity (if appropriate). This is by far the most important information you can provide! Do not answer this with "Fine" "Perfect" "ok", that tells us nothing. We need hard numbers.

2) Tank size and a list of ALL inhabitants. Include algae eaters, plecos, everything. We need to know what you have and how big the tank is.

3) Feeding, water change schedule and a list of all products you are using or have added to the tank (examples: Cycle, Amquel, salt, etc)

4) What changes you've made in the tank in the last week or so. Sometimes its the little things that make all the difference.

5) How long the aquarium has been set up, and how did you cycle it? If you don't know what cycling is read this: Fishless Cycling Article and familiarize yourself with all the information. Yes. All of it.

We want to help, and providing this information will go a LONG way to getting a diagnosis and hopeful cure that much faster.

While you wait for assistance:
One of the easiest and best ways to help your fish feel better is clean water! If you are already on a regular water change schedule (50% weekly is recommended) a good step to making your fish more comfortable while waiting for diagnosis/suggestions is to do a large water change immediately. Feel free to repeat daily or as often as you can, clean water is always a good thing! Use of Amquel or Prime as a dechlor may help with any ammonia or nitrite issues, and is highly recommended.

Note - if you do not normally do large water changes, doing a sudden, large water change could shock your fish by suddenly changing their established water chemistry. Clean water is still your first goal, so in this case, do several smaller (10%) water changes over the next day or two before starting any large ones.

Hello Me again!
Seem to be having nothing but bad luck with fluffy...

Fluffys left eye is all puffy and white...
well not so much puffy but it looks like he has a white filmy slime type bubble over his left eye.

Ive checked my water...
Ammonia levels are 0
Nitrate 05
and the Nitrit is 0.3
(Tanks 125ltr i have two fluval filters, fluval heater and one air stone, two live plants and two pieces of bog wood)

I didn't test the pH. But if needed ill do it, it takes two Min's.

I read up a little bit and it could also be stress... But i don't think anything has been stressing him out as he's been buzzing around his tank with his tail fin out and hes been really light in co lour.
Unless its something from the thermometer he chomped on.
But i did a 75% water change on him after that.
Any ideas on how to treat?
Bactericide's? Would it be best to put him in a hospital tank before treating him with that so it doesn't kill my good bacteria?
God i must be so annoying always asking questions.

Pop-eye is best cured with some epsom salts.

exact dosage is somewhere around here...

Do daily water changes till you get those Nitrites down to zero...

Bad water quality is usually involved in puffer illness, yes. The tank he's in appears to be uncycled if you are still getting nitrites, so chances are the water is bothering him. You need do do 50% or so water changes every day until nitrites read zero a couple days running. Also, as a brackish water fish, he is much more susceptible to eye and skin problems if he's in FW.

O.k.
is this going to be the best time to also start to turn the water brackish or is 50% to much to increase it by at a time?
And i have been doing every other day 40% water changes to dilute the nitrite, so ill step it up a notch and do the 50% every day.

No, bad time, wait until the nitrites have zeroed out, otherwise you will be going through crazy amounts of marine mix. When the tank is cycled, you can increase the SG by about .002 per week, if you are doing 50% water changes, that means the water in your change bucket should read no more than 1.004.

That should help, yes :) Some melafix might also help, in case it's some other kind of nasty, but the epsom salt will help draw out the liquid and is the most important.

Melafix won't harm any good bacteria in your tank. Remove carbon though (don't need it anyway).

Just an update!
Mr/Mrs Fluff's eye seems to be on the mend!
Fluff can now see again and its properly clearing up!
