I've done this: since I saw him in the shop a few months ago. And finally someone here on TPF kicked me into action. I called the shop, and then he was mine

Little one? He is my biggest puffer so far And now he is here! I don't have any pics yet, as he is now waiting in his plastic bag (luckily he didn't try to bite his way out, like Hufflepuff tried to when I bought him. There wasn't much water left when I came home). And I guess there's no chance after I release him. He will need his time to get used to his new home. Oh! He is a beauty
And...er...he didn't come home alone either. I knew I probably would take home something more, as they said earlier that they had F8s. But they had sold them all. On the other hand, they had dwarf puffers... They had 3 left, so I couldn't let anyone left behind
And *poof* I have increased my amount of puffers with 50%! And there was no puffers left in the shop

It will be a late evening for me now, as I have a lot of work to do to give them what they need. I have 20 kg of sand to wash... (And, yes, I have a very well cycled filter for the suvatti). So now I just have to figure out where to put the dwarves

No, still no pictures of him. But he is now released into his new home. I can't exactly claim he is checking out his new house. He lays absolutely still, looking mean and grumpy (which is the way I like them. Not the laying still part, but mean and grumpy, and a little bit (or much) violent).

He is sooo beautiful! I guess he is fully grown, as he is my biggest puffer. And now I can see for myself why they are called arrowhead. You just can't miss that pattern! It's really cool

The same Brazilian guy helped me this time too, and he said he was sorry to let him go. I can understand that. I've bought two of his "boys" now - the two biggest puffers there: the arrowhead and the Fangs (Hufflepuff). And they both have tons of personality. I've never regretted buying Hufflepuff, even though I didn't really have the money for it. I really don't have the money now either, but I just couldn't let him go. The guy at the shop even told me that he almost sold my puffer today . Luckily there was a note on the tank, saying he was to be sold to me I even got a discount

I really have problems with not going to the tank to look at him. I've decided that I will leave him alone until tomorrow now, so he can settle in a bit, without a big human staring at him all the time. But aaah it's hard He is just so unlike any other of my puffers. It's the only puffer I have that doesn't look like the innocence in person. He looks mean! The other puffers are round and smooth and have those big, almost sad eyes. The suvatti looks almost lumpy (oh no, he isn't. But compared with the others...), and have that strange body shape. And the placing of the eyes gives him that not-so-innocent-look. And then you have the patterns. It looks like he changes to and from when it comes to patterns on his sides (or was it his belly?), except that arrow pattern, that's there all the time. I guess much of the patterns I see now, comes from the stress he has been through today, and now being released into an unknown place. And he also is so genuinely a lurker, more than all the others of my puffers put together.

I just have to look at him one more time before I go to bed...

PS: Rocker, I had a look at the video of your arrowheads mating. I would never imagine those fishes being so gentle with each other! I really got touched by watching it.

So glad that you are enjoying your new puffer, somehow I knew you would though The way that puffers change their colour is great I think, you will soon learn what each colour means with the new guy, he will have a hunting colour scheme and a chilling out scheme if he's anything like Clooney

I now have taken some pics of him, but now I can't find the cable to connect the kamera to my laptop. Argh! Well, I will continue the search here.

Koseklumpen (directly translated means something like the cosy lump - it's a Norwegian expression. I just had to give that name to a grumpy, mean puffer), isn't exactly satisfied with me. I think he actually is quite pissed off. He hasn't moved one single inch since I released him yesterday. It's almost so you can think he is dead. Well, I guess he will stay that way for a long time, until he gets more used to his surroundings, and of course after feeding him some times. When he knows I mean food, he will come around, I think. What would be the absolutely favorite snack of a suvatti? Would that be fish?

I am so happy for you that you went and got that suvatti, I know you have been eyeing him up for some time now! He probably will stay quiet for a few days, but once he gets it figured out that you are bringing the goodies he will be rather quick to come get them. Mines favorite so far is live crayfish, but since I have a hard time getting them locally he settles for frozen krill most of the time. Refused to even nibble on the clam, took a couple of nibbles from the mussel, but nothing to get excited over. I will try the mussel again next week. He wouldn't touch the frozen mussel cubes I have. I may have to let him get real hungry to get him to eat different stuff.
I just added more sand to his tank last weekend and so far it's like he doesn't know what to do with it! He barely buries himself or hangs in one of the plants.
Good luck and enjoy feeding this guy. Mine right now only eats every other day, and on days he is offered something he doesn't really care for he ends up with no food for 4 days. I figure he is almost getting to the size where he can eat every 3-4 days since he is willing to pass on meals that aren't what he wants.

I wonder if the shop switched the fish with a plastic one. He still hasn't moved at all. Not even a single fin when i've been watching. But he looks kind of cool where he lays. He looks like he is thinking: "Oh yeah! Just put your hands into the water, and I'll show you who has the sharpest teeth! Don't try to mess with me! BTW. The new house you gave me stinks!"

When I think of it, he wasn't made of plastic when I left the shop. I've never before felt a so angry fish in the plastic bag. I could feel that he was moving around.

Maybe he will take that freeze dried krill I have (yeah, right! I wouldn't believe that until I see it myself). I will try with a little shrimp later on. Maybe he will forgive me for moving him yesterday then He will get food every other day. I do the same with Hufflepuff and Tiger, and this one is both bigger and less active. You don't have to ask whether a suvatti is a lurker

It's alive! Finally the plastic fish has moved Or someone has moved it during the night

Actually he has digged himself down in the sand. And as the sand and he has the same color, I had trouble finding him. It's amazing how such a big fish can dig himself down so totally. The good part is that I can see I gave him enough sand (which I was a little worried about. He is BIG!) Well, moved? He has moved a few inches before digging himself down. And now he lays there and looks mean. He always looks mean! I think I love him!

It is amazing how still they can be isn't it? Several times I had to move a finger around on the glass just to see Chief's eyes move to know for sure he was alive. Yesterday he finally munched on some fresh shrimp, but he still didn't like it as well as the smaller krill. I will look for smaller raw whole shrimp, maybe that will work. Other than that, he will just have to go hungry once in awhile since he has gotten particular about what he will eat!

Back again, after a long weekend away. And I still can't find the cable for my camera.
And he still doesn't move He was out of the sand again when I came back, so at least he moves when I'm not there. Yesterday I tried to give him a shrimp, and he still didn't move. I left a part of it behind for the night, and this morning it was gone. So he eats when I'm not watching . Well, sooner or later he will find that I mean food, and come around to me.

The bad news now, is that the shop I bought him from, now has a palembangensis. Ouch! That's one of the puffers that I've been looking for. But the good part is that I can't afford it now...
