conch shell

Post by puffpuff »

I have a large conch shell I'd like to put in my tank (it's on its way to brackish). Any thoughts on how this will effect the water. I've heard varying things about the pH etc. Also, do I need to boil or soak it first?

thanks!

Rinse it out every time you clean the tank. I had a problem with crud getting stuck in a shell and rotting.
Tanks:
20-gal feeder breeder (platties and snails)
75-gal West African Lungfish + snails

Other pets: Pacific parrotlet, Italian Greyhound, lots of plants

I would boil it for at least 10 min. before putting it in the tank.
