substrate question...
i have semi- fW because I'm slowly converting to BW for my GSP's but i have fine sand in my tank as substrate but i was wondering for a buffering agent about CC or aragonite. would it be okay if i left the sand in there, and just sprinkle a bag of aragonite or CC over the sand, and mix it in while doing the weekly stir?

It would be fine, but if you removed the decorative fine sand, a large grain aragonite or CC would be much easier to clean. If you mix the two, the larger-grained aragonite or CC will always settle on top, so the decorative sand is just going to be bothersome.
If you prefer the fine sugar-sand look, there are some brands such as Carib-Sea that carry fine aragonite.
