Clean up crew for F8?

I think my subject asks it all. . .

I know gobies can be tankmates (according to some) and will probably pick up any food the F8 drops, but what can acclimate to brackish AND eat algea or anything else random like that AND has a good chance of NOT becoming puffer food?

A gravel vacuum and a magnetic glass cleaner? :lol:

I really don't think there are any good glass algae eaters who would do well in BW. For long/hair types of algae, platys, mollies and American Flagfish do very well, but I'm not sure they wouldn't be seriously harrassed and/or killed by a figure 8.

Very good. Fortunately I have the worlds best gravel vac and an awsome algae pad. :?

Only thing is, though...you'll end up getting harrassed by the F8s - they'll get you if you don't watch out - I've had a blood blister before now.
They seem to wait till your head's turned away and you're concentrating on something else.

My F8's dont so much bother me while cleaning the tank, as much as they attempt to bite through the Python gravel vac tube at the empty snail shells spinning around in it.

Mine attacks the gravel vac, too. He's fairly selective - won't attack white gravel, but let there be a snail shell in there and he'll go nuts!

Miy F8 is really scared of the cleaning equipment and she stays well away!! Its the dwarf puffers who circle round the cleaning equipment and try and get in the pipe!!! so I have to go very carefully cleaning their tank out every week !!

Speaking of mollies - I originally bought 4 of them as dither fish for my 70 gallon brackish. That was a long while ago.

There are still there - not at all harassed by the puffers in there. Mind you, the puffers are small - GSPs are 2" and under.

I think, as always, it depends on the temperment of the individual fishes involved.

This is just my experience.

GSP's just tend to get more more vicous as they age though... I'm evacuating my bumblee bee gobies tomorrow before they meet a gruesome death. :twisted:
