I thought irrubescos were supposed to be aggressive to each other? Is this because they still are small fishes? I didn't expect this kind of cosiness at all from a puffer!

Cosy irrubescos
Again I started worrying for my little irrubesco female. All I could see was one irrubesco in hiding, and no other places to hide. But with Tott's Houdini trick fresh in mind, I didn't despair. Yesterday I did a water change, and I just had to look for her. To my big surprise, it turned out to be two irrubescos hiding together. They lay very close together, just like I would imagine a married couple

Puffers will often be much more social before sexual maturity, and the younger the more so. Rocker has photos of his babies growing out in a tank together, some are resting in a pile stacked several puffers high.
