gsp feeding

can i feed garden snails to my gsps ? i got them both from lfs but not sure if they are both gsp i will post sum pics any info on how to care for them would be most helpful

i have read the article on feeding but it dosent state weather i can feed garden snails i have loads thats all one of my gsps looks realy good the other has blackness down both bely sides and wont eat he has nipped fins too how ca i help him

I wouldn't feed garden snails.

We need more information.

How long have you had them, what you feed, size of tank, how cycled, water test results for Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate and PH, also are you using marine salt?

The blackness is a sign of stress, this can be caused by many things, the more information you can provide will help us diagnose the problem.

The pufferpedia has many picture to help identify your fish.

Garden snails would have the same restrictions as earthworms for feeding to any fish. The area from which they are collected must be free of all herbicides, insecticides, etc. as these thing can poison your fish. They should be gut-loaded -meaning some period of holding and feeding very well to maximize their nutritional value. And remember that these terrestial snails do not like to be under water - if not eaten immediately, they must be removed.

ok they are in a 30g at the moment but will be moved to an 88g when i get it set up they are in fw as i only got them yesterday and they were in fw at the lfs onehas been eating frozen bodworm and snails which were in the tank the other wont eat i will do some water tests and let you know the results

How was the tank cycled, before you added the fish?

i had mollys and guppys in there for about 2 months so it should be ok

They do look like gsp's from your picture

It may be my fish but when I have a red t-shirt on they do seem more timid, poss the red rock is not to his liking?

It can take a week or even two for puffers to settle.

redblackwhite, can you get a shot more clear. I'm having some doubts that the one on the substrate in front of the rock is a GSP. I'm not the best at ID'ing but just in case he's not a GSP, others can tell you.

Thanks manutius! I saw that right after I posted. Definitely GSP. They look pretty big, how big are they redblackwhite?

hey, i noticed alot of picture of your guy's GSP the, puffer has those red eye's ... but i have 2 and mine have green eyes. an i looked at other pictures and they seem to have red eyes too. is it just eye color depending on the puffer like humans or are mine not GSP??
