volcano rock in aquarium?

hey, a friend of mine just got back from a vacation and was at this lake made by an erupted volcano and piked up a few cool looking rocks and thought it'd be neat if i threw it in my aquarium w/ 2GSP.

but b'4 i did. i was wondering if it'd be safe?
its not ashy or anything, but anyway'
would it make calcium build up or the water hard or anything?
I'm not quite sure but was wondering if anyone knew it' d safe.
all i know is that volcano rocks are igneous, iirc' sketchy-- but that's what i remembered from the 8th grade haha .

so what do u guys think?

I would not recommend it at all. Volcanic rock is made up of all sorts of chemicals and minerals that very likely would be deadly to fish. Just the fumes are deadly to humans.

Some of it is chemically safe and used routinely - pumice rock is one such (although there may be pyhsical issues from its roughness and lightness). Others may be loaded with potentially or actually toxic metals, etc. If you are not up on minerology, I would pass.
