dwarf puffers in comunity tank

will my dwarf puffers be safe in my comunity tank for now or shall i get them out and put them in a new tank i have 1 clown loach
3 plecs
5 mollys
7 guppys
4 zebra danios
2 cherry barbs
6 neons
3 corydoras
2 rams
2 otos
it is a 600 litre tank and none of the fish are bigger than 3 inches any advice will be welcome

I have dwarf puffers in a community tank. They leave the other fish alone and other fish leave them alone. The puffers don't even go after the ghost shrimp or jumbo fanning shrimp, nor do they harass the dwarf frogs.

thanx for the advice i will leave them in the comunity untill i can get them a tank of there own what size tank should i get them

It depends on their personalities. Mine chewed up several fish, including all of the fins off one cherry barb, in one night. Also, watch very carefully as they can starve to death when kept with faster moving fish.

With respect to the issue of possible starvation, I make sure that there are snails in the tank and I spot-feed with bloodworms.

I keep mine in a my 180ltr community tank with platys, BN plecs and some different types of tetra. They have been in there for nearly 3 months with no problems so far, but i do keep a close eye on the tank for any sign of trouble.

They have a huge snail population of all sizes to chose from in there from apple snails and ramshorns and i spot feed blood worm which they love.

I am however still debating getting them there own tank, not sure yet, space is the main issue of where to put it. The only reason i am considering this is to monitor there food a little more easy. I do see them eat and hunt, but not 100% if they are getting enough. I now dp's are small but one of mine seems considerably smaller than the other of late!

Dp' s may 'cope' in a community tank but will 'thrive' in a tank of their own IME.

i have no nipped fins as of yet the dwarfs seem to be very placid and avoid the other tank mates also one of mine is smaller than the other two should i be worried at this

All three of my dwarfs are lightly different sizes. The male is the largest and one of the females is just about the same size. The remaining female is slightly smaller (enough to be able to recognise her at a glance) and I have put this down to the fact that she was the worst affected by IPs when I got them. Of course she could just be naturally smaller.

Personally I wouldn't worry about it if the fish seems happy. However if it shows signs of IPs or not feeding search on this forum for treatments!
