Size vs Salinity for Ceylons

Post by spoot »

Donkey and PuffPuff are about 1.25-1.75" at the moment and we have them in S.G. of 1.004. I hope we aren't raising it too fast for their size. We went from fresh to 1.004 in about 2 months. Is there any guideline as to the salinity they should be in at a specific size? Thanks!

As they get bigger, you can increase the salinity more - Shakespeare and Kiwi, my very simular GSP's, are 2.5" and 2" respectively, which is 1/3-2/5 grown up for a GSP, are at 1.014, and will probably stay their until they get over 3". I'd just put 1.025 in your mind as a final goal, and scale it in proportion to their size... so when they are 4" long, you'd probably want them at least at 1.013. They really wont' be too picky, as long as it's within reason for their size.
No matter how magnificent your successes or devastating your failures, the worlds' approximately 5 billion impoverished people could not possibly care less.

My ceylon is 3.5 - 4 inches and my sg is 1.013. Going to hold it there til he tips over the 4" mark - he's healthy and happy and it saves me cash :)

Read the GSP article in our Library. Do the same for Ceylons.
