My puffer is lonely, what to put in with him?

I have a GSP in a marine tank. Water levels are perfect and there are some buttons and polyps in with him.
The problem is that he's the only fish in the tank. Very healthy but lonely. He pases up and down and is very shy. I know from experience that putting in another fish will help him. It's not the tank because the tank is full with live rock, caves and Caulerpa. No problems there. It's only a 30 gallon at the moment and in two or three months I will start cycling a 120 gallon for the puffer.

Till then, I want to give him a friend so he's not bored and scared in his tank.

In the 120 gallon I want a yellow tang, but this tank is too small.

I was thinking of a Macropharyngodon bipartitus or a Royal Gramma Basslet to keep him company till then. Any other suggestions?

I was also thinking of a Salarias fasciatus because we have two in the LFS and one of them is eating Nori and spirulina. So I can still feed him after the algae are gone in the tank

Algae Blennies are hilarious, that'd be my choice

However, your GSP is probably not lonely. Have you read the "alone, but not lonely" article in the library?

Id say if you want tank mates wait untill your 120 is up and ready to go then start thinking about adding more fish.

THe only thing that happens fast in salt water is failure, be patient.

A yellow tank will be fine in a 120g. It all depends on how aggressive the puffer is.

I prefer clear tanks, personally. Better visibility
