What I heard at my LFS!

I'm in my LFS, getting crayfish and red crabs for my GSP's and my Oscars. So anyway I'm waiting while the guy is helping a customer who's ahead of me. I hear them talking and the customer is interested in getting two GSP's. He's asking the basic questions about care, food and what not. The guy tells him thier brackish fish and what they eat. So the customers next question is," Will they be okay in my Oscar tank?" Inside I laugh and wait for the guy to tell him no thier brackish fish, not freshwater and even if they were freshwater they wouldn't be compatable. Well his reply to the customer is," Oh yeah they should have no problem with each other because the Oscar's will out grow them." Are these stores that in need of the $6.99each they will make off of these fish. Why can't they just say no! I usually mind my own buisness in these situations but as an owner of both these fish I had to jump in. He didn't but them and the guy at the store gave me a dirty look. I don't understand why they do things like that.

Because its not just $6.99. The fish will die and they'll come back and get more and it'll be yet another sale.

Good for you, I have gotten a lot of dirty looks but I figure if it keeps one fish from being put in a terrible situation or a family the heart break of taking fish home to have them die or eat each other it is worth it.

i work at my lfs and i must say i couldnt agree more, i always check with my boss before answering a question that i dont know, and i have turned down alot of sales. there was a guy who wanted to buy all 10 of our discus for his 29 gallon tank. i said "sir, you may get 2 discus for a 29 if you have researched them, and can care for them" he said he would come back later and get them. and he did. so i guess i got through to him.

Good for you puffer2007. it is crazy how people are willing to spend the money on an impulse without any knowledge or research.
