My Puffers: Bak Mei, ~4" Auriglobus Modestus. In a 55g tank (since '06) w/ some guppies he pays no attention to.

I always ask for free snails. Just about any LFS should be happy to give you what they consider pests.

All the LFSs around my area keep the snails they sell in tanks with fish, so we just ask for some of the ones they have in their plant displays. Most of them will just give them to you, but some may ask you to buy some plants, so best thing is probably just to go around to different stores that sell aquatic plants and ask if you can pick off some of their snails.
