Yes, that is a very disappointing attitude and I'm sure you won't find it accepted here.

No one can force you to treat your pets better, well, the ASPCA can but they probably aren't going to show up for fish! But you asked, so we are going to make sure the correct information is here, even if you don't follow it or appreciate it, other people are going to read this and we don't want them thinking what you are doing is the right thing to do, just because it is easier for you instead of doing it properly.

Also.. there is a very large difference in the type of "salt" that African cichlids naturally live in and the "marine salt" that makes up true brackish water that these puffers come from. The "salt" the multis come from is more of a combination of minerals etc that are in the land formations of those particular lakes, each of the lakes has its own special type of water due to the rocks, volcanic activity, etc. True brackish water is a mix of ocean water and freshwater, which has its own OTHER mix of salts and minerals, etc. "Aquarium Salt" is a whole nother story, and pretty much useless for either fish other than as a medical type treatment, definately not the proper thing to be using to make "brackish" water, in any case.

But all in all, you'll learn. You'll probably lose your puffers due to overstocking, your shellies to either violence or parasites (GSP's are wild caught and usually parasite loaded) and you'll never come back because you don't want to hear "I told you so". I feel bad for your fish and really hope you don't treat other aspects of your life with this same disregard.

I did not offer the 6 by 6 cell for a human . analogy, so i didnt bring up the human metaphor. So, please read before you accuse.

And Pufferpunk, i got no memo that you are the god of all fish and protector of the wild. Give your advice and move on !!!!!!

And fish are to entertain, how you forgot that is baffeling.

They are 3 dollar puffers, i will try to make them happy and work in the tank with the multis. That doesnt make me a bad person or any of the such.

I also noticed, no one, disagreed with my multi thoughts, first you said they will eat the multis , now, you say nothing after i explain multis to you.

The puffers are in a clean tank, get fed , and have there own side. Could be worse, could be better.

ty for opinions, and pufferpunk, you sound stuck up and angry, let us have fun, give your opinion and go, play with your puffers.

sorry, but, you guys are ocd about this

Sure we are.. no arguing there (about the OCD part).

Many of us are actually serious about fishkeeping, we work at breeding rare species and preserving species that are dwindling in the wild because people like you keep buying them "for entertainment" and killing them instead of taking the time to care for them.

If you aren't serious about it, don't bother coming here because you know what.. we educate ourselves and know what we are talking about.

As far as the multis are concerned, I have shellies as well. And I've kept puffers. You've had your puffers, what, 4 days? They are just babies, probably still in shock, not feeling well and probably not feeling too good from being tossed into a tank that is now overcrowded and the resulting likely ammonia spike.

But IF they survive their first weeks or months, they will turn into little beasts. They've been known to bite other fish in half, you should see the photos of Pufferpunk's Jack Dempsy that was turned on by her otherwise "peaceful" puffer. Once they hit sexual maturity, they can get very very nasty, even if before then they don't do much damage.

Three of them cramped into a 29 (technically holds 25 or less gallons of actual water), which is really not large enough to properly house ONE adult, is going to lead to lots of aggression/territory/health problems. That is completely above and beyond the addition of a group of shell dwellers adding to the stress and bioload issue.

And what's wrong with the human baby analogy? Its perfectly accurate, other than if you tried to do that to a human, you'd be a child abuser. But the same thing applies, try to do that to any animal or human, and they are going to develop spinal problems from not being able to stand up straight, muscle atrophy and related problems from not being able to stretch and move. Health problems from nasty living conditions, just like your fish will have, if they don't die first.

Its sad to see people with an attitude like that. But if you won't change your mind all we can do is let others know how much of a mistake you are making and hope they make the correct choice.

Funny thing with my moving on... I HAPPEN TO OWN THIS WEBSITE!

You are the one that will be moving on, if you continue to disrespect the folks that work very hard here to give good, sound, helpful & kind advise. We are responsible for caring for God's creatures. I am not saying I have done the best job of that in the past--didn't know any better but now that I have gotten the right info, it is certainly my responsibility to follow through. So is it yours.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

I really hope you are only about 13 years old. Your attitude and disregard would be a little more acceptable, but still extremely unsettling.

I really hope you have no other pets, no kids, no wife, or any other relationship where a living being relies on you. You need to be able to think of someone other than yourself to have a real relationship with anyone.

Good luck...

You guys totaly lost it , relax, you sound like 13 year olds not me. Now you threathen me that you will kick me off the site. I call that childish. You could have stopped replying, a while ago, but you insisted to keep going.

You think your special or something posting on a forum. You know nothing of me or my life, so stick to your life. You would never talk to someone like that face to face. ( i hope you dont live your life like that ) You wouldnt say it and know it. Or the person you said it to would not be happy, get my means ?

So, relax guys , dont act so stuck up , it makes you seem , well you know !!

Glad to have talked with all of you. lol

Maybe i will make my tank brackish , maybe , but you snobs can lose sleep over it.

Oh , now i am a bad father, bad, person and all that. how dare you , you must be a terible person to accuse people of such things. Who are you to say how to raise kids or about marriage ? Your some clown on a forum, what they call keyboard warrior.

A sick bunch you are !!! From a puffer , to being a terrible person, wow, you guys are something else. You gathered all that info in a post about puffers ???

How childish and stupid. You for one are a coward and would never say half your stuff in person. Then you find out your wrong and you go on, babbeling on a forum, trying to be cool, sorry you got picked on in school.

You people should stick to fish, you know nothing about people . To judge from a post on a forum, proves your stupid and dont know a thing about life.

Notice, i did not accuse any of you of being bad parents or people. Notice, i did not judge any of you. You started it all by yourself,

You cant believe in god, you must believe the puffer fish is your god.

Personally I am not into that "God" thing...
I can but nourish the fragile hope that those who believe in reincarnation will turn out to be right, and that you as a natural consequence will end up as a badly kept goldfish in someones fishbowl...

There is nothing wrong with advocating respect for life, however fishy it may be.
The reasons why people decide to keep pets will of course be many.
Some people do it for company, some for an interest in nature, and some for cheap (3 dollars a puffer) entertainment value.

I am completely unable to grasp your attitude.
Why would you not take pleasure in recreating a biotope where the fish can thrive?

Jester: You've been very hypocritical in all of your responses. You say you don't insult, and then you do, two seconds later. You say the people on the forum are childish for posting replies, when you've been replying as well. If we're so childish, then why do you keep responding. The reason PP told you to behave or get tossed was because you were being a jerk and rude to anyone who didn't agree with you, not because your logic was so perfect and overwhelming that we just couldn't handle it.
I'm sorry you feel that fish are just for entertainment and you don't care what happens to them. You're obviously not going to change.
Would you like to be forced into a cage filled with feral wolves and bears, and have people watch you and see what happens, just because they thought it was entertaining? It's same concept. Don't tell me it doesn't relate just because "you're human".
If you're so quick to spurn and destroy nature, then I hope you choose not to buy any more living things.

Why did you post? You were looking for help...People tried to help you and you threw it back in everyones face, so fine. Then move on and do what you may. If you go back and read this whole post, you may realize that you have assumed a heck of a lot about everyone on here and have been extremely hypocritical! When I asked about a 6x6 cell, it was only to ask if you thought that would feel comfortable for a person because your fish are not going to feel much different in a 30G.

Its interesting that think most people would not talk the same face to face. Usually i would agree but in this case I have to totally disagree! I know if I saw your tank and you had the attitude that you do, I would probably be a bit harsher! I have no problem telling people to their face that they are mistreating animals. I have done it many times and will never stop. When you take a creatures life into your hands, big or small, you have a responsibility to care for it in the best way you can.

Hope you have an moment one day when you realize that living creatures are not just decoration and should be treated with respect! They don't ask much more from you!

Oh, and by the way, I have never been bullied as a child, so once again, you are the one making the assumptions!

Good luck!

I'm afraid we're all wasting our breath, so to speak. Anyone who values the importances of lives based on the price it costs isn't going to listen to anything we have to say.

As for me, I value the life and happiness of my palembang, who was free, just as much as I do my $169 baileyi or even each of my $50 electric blue jack dempseys.

Heehee. Yeah, I've never hesitated to tell someone in person when they're not taking care of their fish very well. Usually, though, the person will see that I'm very passionate and at least somewhat informed, and they actually listen to my advice. Most people I talk to seem to at least care about their fish a little.

I would like to know where exactly we were proved "wrong"? You've owned these fish less than a week. Come back in 5 or 10 years and tell us how it turned out, we'd love the input. Somehow I don't think it will take 5 or 10 years, not even one year, to know the results of your "entertainment" experiment.

Your multi's will not be able to stand up to those puffers if they manage to survive, trust me. One chomp would be all it would take per multi.. and you'd be surprised, puffers can move pretty dang quick when they want to. Just watch one chase down a ghost shrimp. If your puffers are shy and skittish right now, its because of the conditions they are in, simple as that. The shock of the move, the overstocking, the water quality.. many things.

You are rude. You are uneducated on the subject. And you refuse to listen to people who learned these lessons the hard way, who are just trying to help. At least you have the option to prevent killing these fish and you decide instead to make a big fuss on a forum. You insult people who are trying to help, so we drop the "baby gloves" and let you know how we really feel. If you continue to throw around insults and misinformation, you will be removed from the site, as you are not contributing positively. Other than acting as an example of how you should "not" treat fish, animals or anyone else in general.

How about this.. ask your children, should you treat the fish right or let them suffer? Even a small child should be able to figure out the answer to that question.

And yes, if I saw you in person and knew the disregard you held your "pets" in, and the way you treated them, I'd give you a heck of a piece of my mind.
