I suspect I may have a female irrubesco that's carrying eggs. at first she got fatter, but even after there was no more shrimps in the tank, her tummy persisted. I would think it has been about a week now. The bulge is slightly different from the eating bulge. It's towards the back, and it's rounded and bulging towards the sides. Is she carrying eggs? She keeps the bulge on even before feeding.
I've a male irrubesco in a separate tank. He has a little violent tendencies. He killed his first wife, frequently nipped another female and so I've since removed her. Should I take a risk and put the "egg carrying female" with him?
Also, she used to be an extremely docile female. Now she's attacking the other female in her tank. Normal change of behaviour?
My puffer baffle me... all the time.
I'd rather be a puffer than a snail. Yes I would, if I could, I surely would...
Funny, I've noticed the same thing with one of my silus (the bulge, not the aggression). Wish I could remove the divider and see if the two would breed but everytime I've removed it for just a few minutes to clean it, it immediately attacked the other one.
