Completely unexpected I received from taiwan a new puffer species that has not been categorized and has been come simply as tetraodon sp.
It has resemblances with the tetraodon fluviatilus and tetraodon nigroviridis in certain points but he was differs considerably more in his morphology.

Rocker, You could be right. I wonder if thats' the weird-looking GSP we have been getting pics of, all these years. Never even noticed there was another species on that page.

Perhaps it’s a T.sabahensis but I can’t find informations and photo from this species.The fish its 18cm long but in Dr.Klaus book writes as final size 14cm.

There is not much information on this species available. Dekkers thought 1975 it was a subspecies of T. fluviatilis. Since then it only occurred in fish guides without any more detail. Kottelat interprets it as a separate species. 2 (?) years ago, it occurred in aquaria, so Ebert did not have the possibility to find out a lot on this species. Have a look at

That definately looks like the fish we saw at the London Aquarium a couple of years ago, we sent pics to the 'old 'puffer forum and were told it was probable some variant type of puffer, so maybe it now has a name after all
