Had him a week, 1.5 inch body, 70 litre Juwel Rekord tank, on his own, lots of rocks, hiding places, filter matured, zero ammonia and nitrites, still freshwater, I am going to do a 50 percent water change with RO water at 1.004 on Monday, followed by the same a week later to gradually bring up to 1.005.
My F8 refuses frozen bloodworms or any dead ones in a bag of live ones. He just swims up to them, stops and goes looking elsewhere. I have tried mixing with live and have varied the pump to make them appear live but no joy. Live brine shrimps, no problem, will even eat freeze-dried river shrimps that I cut up.
Any suggestions gratefully appreciated, I know I have to be patient but I am worried about the Xmas period and availability of live food.
Ps Can anyone tell me where to get snails in the UK, keep trying my LFS and they don’t have any.
Fussy new F8 eating

Check out the food article in the library, theres a bunch more options you can try. It can take a while for them to settle. My T cutcutia ate bloodworms the first time I offered them to him, he hasnt eaten any since. He easily takes clams, mussels, shrimp, snails and scallops.
Theres a lot of UK members, I'm sure one of them will let you know where to find snails.

hi there.
my f8s will eat:
live and frozen bloodworm, live brine shrimp, snails, prawn, mussles and one will take tropical pellets and algae wafers.
they wont touch daphnia and wont eat cockle for some reason.
do u know anyone that has a pond? u can get snails from a pond.
maybe try another lfs? every lfs will get snails, maybe ask ur current one if they will keep them aside from you instead of gettin rid of them.
