I suppose knowing any future owners will be able to let you know how they are doing via TPF would make it easier letting the first ones go, if you have become attached to them.
I have only just found this page.....WOW!!!!! what an amazing story!!! I couldn't read the pages fast enough to find out what the progress of the little fellows was lol..... what is the latest on the first born cuties??? They are simply amazing!!!!! You must be ecstatic!!!!! Well done
Latest ones are looking strong and healthy.
It was touch and go at one stage as the heater was off for two days and the temp dropped to 18C.
However the only effect this had was that the eggs took longer to hatch. Instead of around a week they took two.
Another interesting observation and thought. I always thought that the male after a while of gaurding would blow the eggs forcefully to scatter them. At first, because they dissappeared from the slate I thought he had eaten them. But they would hatch amongst the plants and appear at times. I then thought it was bad parenting on his behalf as I watched him scatter other batches of eggs blowning them off the slate too.
After raising them myself I notice that many struggle to free themselves and after a while die.
Further eggs that I have seen I have helped by blowing them myself with a pipette. My success rate has increased alot.
The latest batch I am talking about contain around 50 healthy fry.
