Palembangensis and Suvattii??

Post by joeyg2100 »

Can you put these two species together in the same tank if they are the same size. I have a 55 gallon tank that I want to put my Palembangensis in, and the LFS has a Suvattii for sale that I want to take off of there hands. Is there anyway that these two fish can be housed together? Has anyone ever tried?

Not mine. I have no doubts that my palembang would try to eat a suvatti. It has eaten, or tried to eat, everything that I've put in the tank with him (mostly things that were to be eaten - exception was my silus puffer when I first got the palembang. I thought it would be safe since it stayed up top and the palembang stayed on the bottom. Nope, woke up the next morning and the poor silus had a very large bite mark on both sides of his body. Palembangs have some very large mouths. :) Luckily the silus healed and is happily living on his own, as is the palembang.

just like boxermom, i have no doubts that my suvattii would try to eat the Palembangensis if i put it in the tank with him. he attacks and eats anything that moves, wether it be bigger fishes or smaller.
