Normal Behaviour???? .....I have the Water test results

I Know...I know...you're all getting fed up with me keep subbing new Topics....well...let me tell you..I feel like I felt when my Son was born and I was a new Daddy... Is he breathing??? Should he be laying on his front??? How often does he poo???? etc etc lol ...well it's the same for me with my new Puff....He swims around the tank for a while and looks real healthy but he spends sooooooo much time just sitting (mainly up top of the heater) that I am wondering if this is normal behavior???

At least one thing, with him sitting it allowed me to get a farely decent pic of him for a change

I promise...after a week or so and Puff's is all settled you won't hear a peep from me....thx in advance for any replies

His coloring is a lil dark... Is he heating? Water parameters? How was the tank cycled? Sorry if these are repetative, but I don't remember his story exactally.

Water parameters seem fine and I used an internal Fluval that was taken from a well established cichlid tank for the new Puffer tank

Is he in fresh water? or have you started to raise the salinity??

water stats are required.can you post them.
My first thoughts would be amm/nitrite problems but the stats would confirm/deny this

I haven't started to raise the salinity yet. I am buying a full test kit on my way home from work today( I only used the paper one) and will post the results tonight....and no, he isn't eating

Okay....here are the water test results

Ammonia = 0
Nitrite = 0.1
Nitrate = 10
PH = 7 - 7.5

I left a little bit of mussel in the water this morning and it's gone, so at least he seems to have eaten something. Another thing that I've noticed..in most photo's the puffers tail is fanned out but on my Puff it never is

It looks like your tank is still cycling a little, thankfully past the really bad stage though. Once you have zero ammonia and nitrites, you'll be good.

Clamped fins usually mean the fish is scared or uncomfortable, he's probably a little bit of both right now. Do water changes daily if you can for the next few days, to keep him more comfortable, and start thinking about picking up some marine salt and adding a teaspoon each week or so to get him in more comfortable water.

Ceylons are beautiful fish, I want some someday. What size tank is it in as well?

He is in a 30g tank....and yes, I did a small water change tonight after I did the water tests

Mine don't always fan their tails out either. Just periodically. But I know its not a problem with their water.
